  1. I can't imagine the screws making any difference to the risk of being struck by lightning. However, it is possible that the screws could cause greater damage if you happened to be struck. The metal could attract the current and heat up, causing burn damage. There have been reports of piercings causing burns in lightning strikes.

I don't think you should be concerned by this. The risk is far greater that you would get struck by a car while running to find shelter from the lightning.

If you ARE afraid of thunderstorms, you could use the screws as an excuse, since they probably DO make lightning a little bit more dangerous for you. It's always good to have an excuse. :)

  2. Technically, depending on the size of the screws, if they're small, then although lightning is attracted to metal, they're too small to be detected and to attract lightning. Even if they're like, gigantic, you too vertically challenged compared to other structures like buildings, etc to attract the lightning. Yeah. You're safe. Just don't walk into a open field(about the size of 1 - 3 football fields) devoid of trees and buildings in a thunderstorm. A normal person would be asking for trouble, not to mention you.
