Like in Germany, there is this pass for 35 euro which lets you travel the whole day in a group of 5 people or less so that brings down the travel expense. Though there is restriction on the German pass that only regional express are allowed and not Inter City Express. Please reply fast as I have to leave early.

  1. No there isn't anything like that here. The only group discount fares are the Famila fare for up to 5 people. There has to be at least one adult and at least one child under 12 - you need to have documented proof and an adult has to self certify they're the parent or guardian. This gets you a 50% discount for the kids and 20% discount for the adult fares, but they're a per ticket discount with some limitations. You would have to pay again for return trains on the same day as opposed to the day ticket in Germany.

You can check the available promotions here: http://www.trenitalia.com/en/promozioni_...

When you're travelling on the trains here make sure you validate the tickets before getting on the train - the fine is 44 euro (per ticket) if you don't.

  2. What is the cheapest way to go to Venice from Rome..?
