I was thinking of buying a Jaguar Acoustic-Electric guitar. It can be plugged in to an amp but is there a guitar that sounds both like an electric guitar and an acoustic guitar without being to expensive?

  1. My amp has an acoustic setting which can make an electric sound like an acoustic...Idk if that's what ur looking for though.

  2. When it's plugged in it won't nessisarily sound like an electric guitar unless you distort it. But my acoustic-eletric is an Epiphone AJ100CE and it was around 170 bucks.

Edit: You distort it on the amp. It sounds bad too. >.o

  3. There are things called semi-hollow electric guitars. I think they sound pretty close to an acoustic, so go play one at your local guitar shop to test it out.

  4. wait wait, what the h**l is a jaguar acoustic electric guitar?  i'm sponsored by fender and have never heard of it.  An acoustic guitar that plugs into an amp is meant to be a loud acoustic guitar, not to sound like an electric guitar, so in short, no theres no guitarthat can truly sound like both.  Some electric guitars have piezo pickups that mimic acoustic guitar sounds, but they never truly sound the same as an acoustic.

  5. Well I'm no guitar expert but I was having the same dilemma about a week ago because I want to learn both the acoustic and the electric guitar. I stumbled onto this while surfing youtube

this guy has a Fender telecoustic which you can get at the guitar center for about $200. Not too sure how it works but you should give it a try.

Edit: Scratch that. I've been browsing on that $200 telecoustics and some discussion forums say they really suck  (http://www.tdpri.com/forum/telecaster-di... On the other hand if you're willing to shell out $500 there's a Fender telecoustic DELUXE that, if you read the entire discussion forum, is all wood and as for its quality, still undetermined.

As to your question about distorting an electro-acoustic, I've browsed some other user's questions and they say that plugging it into an electric guitar amp makes it sound like an electric guitar. (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... & http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

    Hope this helps.

  6. I have a Alvarez Acoustic-Electric guitar that costed around $120.  I doesn't sound like a true Electric guitar but it is pretty close.  There is a slider butten (for the lack of a better word) that you can control the volume, the volume of the top 3 strings and lower 3 strings.  (3 buttons total)  It is a realing nice guitar, although I would get a petal to use with it, to get a wider range of sounds.
