Certainly seems there's a disparity between the way Tiger Woods is being treated in the tabloids and on tv, and the way the practitioners of the sport itself are treating him. He's been winning accolades like athlete of the decade, player's player of the year, writer's writer of the year, etc. Even if 2009 wasn't his best year - he didn't win any majors - he won those awards on merit. He had six victories on tour in 2009, and finished the year more than $4 million dollars in prize money ahead of his nearest competitor. But also in part those industry awards are a kind of demonstration that the guys are rallying around him, showing him that the sport isn't condemning him, even if it feels like everyone else is.
