Last time we were in Florida, there were talks of building a high speed rail system from Orlando to Miami?

Did that ever happen? Or, is it going to?

  1. It hasn't happened yet but we keep hoping I live near Orlando part time.

  2. Nope. Only AMTRAK. The next high speed rail will be between Dallas and Houston. There is a proposed swath between the two cities 1/2 mile wide for a 6 lane super speedway and a 3 rail high speed train....cost....12 billion

  3. no clew

  4. Carrie,

As of now the only high speed corridor in the U.S. is in the northeast and operated by Amtrak (technically known as the Northeast Corridor or NEC) with speeds of over 100 mph operated on several sections.   However, there are discussions to use the current Florida East Coast Railway's main line as a high speed corridor in Florida in the future (it runs north-south the length of the state and somewhat hugs the coastline).  Currently the only real commuter service in the state is the Tri-Rail system, operated in South Florida.
