  1. yes, I have seen it on british TV before, there are other such places though, they are quite common.

  2. have a look at this link - Electric brae ( A brae is a hill in Scotland)

  3. there's a hill like that in Israel like in Bethlehem (sorry if i spelled wrong)

not sure if there are in scotland

  4. I think there is.  I know for a fact in Brasil there is.  In Belo Horizonte the capital of Minas Gerais State they have a street called Rus de Amemdoim (Peanut Street).  if you stop your car engine on this street & take the handbrake off your car continues to move forward.  I think it has something to do with magneticism or something.

  5. Croy Brae (also known as the Electric Brae) on the A719 south of Dunure in Ayrshire. The approach in both directions is a sharp left hand bend. The main part of Croy Brae is about 150 yards long.

The best effect is gained in the southbound direction, where the road looks as if it is going downhill, but in reality you are climbing. So as to avoid accidents here, there is a long lay-by on Croy Brae for cars to try out the effect for themselves.

Locals, lke myself, tend to approach Croy Brae with caution in summer - there is always someone stopped on the road trying out the illusion, oblivious to the fact that the A719 is the tourist route along the coast, avoiding the main road (A77) between Ayr and Turnberry.
