Question:

Is there a home theater system alternative that does not require the rear speaker wires to be run to the back?

I live in an apartment, so I am unable to run cables along the base boards or under the carpet. I thought about running the wires along the corner of the ceiling but that would look to tacky.

  1. Ya i think sony has one on the market. it sends the sound wirelessly to the speakers.

  2. yes.. they do make speakers for your type of situation... the ALL IN ONES.. its a large wide center speaker that is made up of a bunch of smaller speakers pointed in different directions.. the sound will bounce off of the surrounding objects and seem like the sound is coming from the back...

  3. Here are a few things that i found, hope they help.

Kenwood's RFU-6100 wireless surround system isn't strictly a wireless system, but it breaks up your speaker system's wiring in such a way that it's easy to hide them at the back of a room. This system uses radio technology, but most of users agree that there are no static problems that are common with these types of systems. The Kenwood wireless system will also allow you to use your own speakers, regardless of brand (as long as they are compatible with the system), making it a must-have for people who don't want to change their speakers per se but want to take advantage of wireless technology.

Kenwood also offers a wireless home theater system that includes speakers. The HTB-S610 also uses radio technology to transmit 5.1 channel surround sound to the various speakers. The rear speakers have an impressive wireless range - they can be placed 100 feet away from the receiver.

Pioneer also manufactures a popular wireless surround sound system. Their HTP-4600 is easy to set-up, which makes it perfect for consumers who are new to home theater systems. Even the terminals and the speakers are color-coded in order to make it easier and hassle-free for users. The main speakers are also sleek and slim, and the surround speakers are also detachable and can be turned to face any angle. The sound quality of the Pioneer system is said to be impressive for its price. However, this system was intended for beginners and not for hard-core audiophiles. If you're looking for a wireless system that can be configured to your needs, as well as a system you can upgrade, this is not the type of system for you.
