Question:

Is there a huge amount of difference between the flying of planes in America and England as a pilot?

Im studying for my pilots certificate from anything i can get my hands on for free as i cant afford to by anything to study from just yet and it seems there are quite a few differences between the two countries ways of doing things. Am i right in saying that? What are the differences?

America by way of it's industrial might and the U.K. by way of their vast empire together were instrumental in establishing international air routes and the standardization of procedures for world wide air travel.  Notice English is the only language used by pilots all over the world. That said an American pilot could fly into or around the UK without noticing any differences except for perhaps the British accent of the flight controllers.

  2. They are both bound by agreements in the ICAO. It's an international set of rule set between almost all the industrialized countries. I would research both the "open sky" agreements and the ICAO.  The common language in avaition throughout the world is english so you already have a leg up on everyone.
