Is there a humane meat company in France?

In the US I eat the Certified Humane brand, because the animals are raised humane, and killed humane. I'm going to France for a while so I would like to know if there is a certain humane brand in France.

  1. never heard of that... (maybe Bio? Agriculture Biologique?)

  2. Never heard of one.

  3. Nope... we're more interested in their taste than in the way hey're killed...

    Sorry

  4. killed humane... oxymoron, much?

sorry for that, moving on now. Anyway, I don't know of any specific humane meat brands in France, but I do know that the conditions animals are kept in France is generally better than in the States. Animals are definitely raised in a more humane manner in France, but I'm not sure if they are "killed humane" as you say. I've heard good and bad things about the way animals are slain in France, but either way I don't see how killing can be humane in the first place.

  5. Never heard about this kind of stuff

But I think it exists some authorities to control the way animals are raised and killed to make meat.

I don't know if normal French conditions could be approved by the US brand.

Saying in a different way, what's the limit between humane and non-humane ?

Another thing is that there's a polemic on the way to produce "foie gras" (fat goose or duck liver). "Foie gras" is now forbidden in California and Chicago's restaurants.

So I will just you advice, if you want to follow your rules, to not eat "foie gras", except that you will miss somethg so good.

You may also refer to chickens that are raised inside and that have never seen sunlight.

So you may choose AOC food (Appelation d'Origine Controlée = Controlled Origin Naming)

    .

  6. I don't know about such brands in France,

But the way Animals are breed for food is very different from US...

Where in US a farm with cows will have thousands heads... In France it's more close to a hundred ones...

Moreover there are labels that certifies origin of the meat, like label rouge or some AOC (appelation d'origine controlée), but i don't know for the way animals are killed humane....
