  1. No, there is not a hybrid out yet with that kind of torgue and horsepower.

  2. It's a good thought but the technology isn't there yet.  A better bet for heavy-duty applications is a good (new) fashioned clean diesel engine powered truck.  You can burn biodiesel fuel and be environmentally friendly and lessen dependence on imported petroleum.  Biodiesel is a carbon neutral fuel, meaning the plants that grew the oil consumed CO2 and no more CO2 than that is released when you burn it.  Net result: no higher CO2 than before you started.  It's oversimplified here but the idea is sound.

  3. here is a answer to your global warming style question.

Have you horses pull the trailer and save gas. or are we worried about to much horse poo and the methane from it.?

if we all went back to horse and buggy we would save a lot of gas. and provide jobs cause someone gotta pick up the horse poo.

  4. i don't think so. they should  come out with one though.

  5. Yes, the new Chevy Tahoe has a 2 stage hybrid system which I thing gives it a rating of 25 MPG, I'm not exactly sure on the number, you might want to check their web site.

  6. NO,,not a true hybrid.

  7. depends - what's the size/weight of the horse trailer + horse(s)?

    Horse trailer FAQs:  http://www.equispirit.com/info/faq.htm

The Toyota Highlander Hybrid 4WD has a 3500lb. max. towing capacity.

as does its cousin the Lexus RX400h (FWD or AWD):

I don't think that the Saturn Vue Green Line will work for you, with a max. towing capaicty of 1500 lbs.

    http://www.saturn.com/saturn/utilitynav/...

I don't think that the Ford Escape Hybrid/Mercury Mariner Hybrid/Mazda Tribute Hybrid is rated for towing, but I am unsure.  The regular versions are capable of 1500 lbs, 3500 lbs with a special towing package, though.

The Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid has a max. trailer weight rating of 6200 lbs.

    http://www.chevrolet.com/tahoe/specifica...

While the cousin GMC Yukon Hybrid has a trailer rating of 6200 lbs. for the 2WD version, 6000 lbs. for the 4WD version:

    http://www.gmc.com/yukonhybrid/index.jsp

I do not know what the towing capacities were for the GMC Sierra Hybrid and the Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid pickup trucks, as these models have been discontinued...  http://www.forbesautos.com/spec/2006/gmc... claims the Sierra had 6700 lbs of towing capacity, but this early press release from GM claims 7700 lbs maximum trailer weight for the 2WD, 7400 for the 4WD:  http://media.gm.com:8221/us/fco/en/produ...

So overall, I would say it depends on what your towing needs are.  How big is your trailer?  Steel or aluminum or even wood?  One horse or several?  Miniature horse / pony or a large draft breed?

as you may have seen in some of my other listings we (my family and i) 100% off the grid and self-sufficient using alternative energy / fuels.

That said I currently run BioDiesel (straight vegetable) in a 1999 Dodge 3500 truck. But all Cummins engines were modified from the factory to run on BioD since around 1992 without any modification. I pull an 8 horse slant load double axle gooseneck (33x7). I also pull my backhoe on a triple axle 30 gooseneck.

Biodiesel is recognized by both the US Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy as an alternative fuel, and qualifies for mandated programs under the Clean Air Act Amendments and the Environmental Protection Act of 1992 (EPAct).

USDA Clears Air with Biodiesel: Buses and other diesel-burning vehicles run cleaner if they mix biodiesel with regular diesel fuel, said the US Department of Agriculture at a biodiesel fuel seminar at a USDA research center.

Conversely most major automotive manufacturers (Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors, etc) recommend the use of bio fuels, and nearly every car manufacturer in the world approves ethanol blends in their warranty coverage.

    The trick is finding fuel.

I've been producing biodiesel for about 3 years now, it's not extremely difficult. Basically you need general household ingredients, a processor (or still for ethanol) and some used oil. Blend it, let separate, screen and use. I complied a guide a while back to help walk you threw the process step by step, just email me or check out

Hope this helped, feel free to contact me personally if you have any questions if you’d like assistance in making your first self sufficient steps, I’m willing to walk you step by step threw the process. I’ve written several how-to DIY guides available at http://www.agua-luna.com on the subject. I also offer online and on-site workshops, seminars and internships to help others help the environment.
