I'm a single mother, so I can't be deployed...but I was wondering if there was a job in the military that I could do that would guarantee NO deployment. (The reason I ask this is because I need tuition assistance for grad school. I already have my BA degree. My school offers a 25% discount for military members.) Please advise.

  1. First, there is no guarantee.

Second, do not join the military as a means to an end. Joining the military should be because you want to be in the military. I have two out of four boys in the National Guard. The NG will be paying for their college, but that is just a perk for them. They wanted to be in the military. And upon graduation, they will be officers in the Army NG.

Third, check with your institution about possible assistantships. They will pay all of your tuition plus. You should also qualify for family housing which will cost very minimal...I have seen as low as $32 month. Speak with your financial aid counselor...they can help. Best wishes on your endeavors.
