Question:

Is there a laundry additive that mimics chlorinated water in cold well water washes

We have well water and I prefer to wash in cold water. From past living experiences I've found that clothes smell more pleasant (or can) washed in chlorinated town water. I've tried Tide Cold water, Tide with Febreeze, Vinegar and assorted others but my clothes smell pretty horrible after they're washed. I get better results with warm water but we have oil hot water and I don't want to use the oil if it's not needed. Any suggestions on what I could use to mimic chlorinated water in my wash cycle? It has to be liquid as I have a front loader and powders gunk it up....Thanks!

  1. Not sure, but I put a water filter on my cold water intake hose on the washer from the well and it seems to do good for me.  It was not too expensive and I got it at the hardware store.  You will need to replace the filters when they get dirty.  Usually you can tell they need replacing when the water comes in too slowly.
