Is there a law that allows landlords and future landlords to disclose information about us?

my husband and i are moving in october to an apartment..well my father in law(our present landlord) is snooping around the complex and we suspect is trying to gain information about our move in dates and how much we will be paying for rent.

  1. The apartment manager is not breaking any law by answering questions about you.  that is how Private Detectives track people down.  Most managers won't talk, tho.  You will be living there for 1 year; the guy asking the questions will never be seen again. /


  2. There in no law against an apartment manager blabbing everything they know about you.


  3. If youre living with family you dont have to use them as a rental reference (just state "with family"), altho if you dont have other references it might make it more difficult to be approved. The new LL canNOT give out any info without your written permission.
