I noticed a little poodle has been locked in someones car for over a hour. there is no widow left open a dash although to be fare it is,nt a very warm day. the dog is just barking and jumping about looking for its owner I suppose. I.m not saying the dog is distressed well not yet anyway. Just wondered if there is any law to prevent a dog being left for a certain amount of time.

  1. Call the cops when you see that next. I hate seeing that.

  2. yes there is a law, report it imedietly the dog could die in hot cars, the owners should be more carefull with their dog if they dont want to lose it. There is a law against it and the rspca is trying to work on it. If you see it again call the rspca.

  3. Ring the police or smash the window - poor little pooch!

  4. yes and the person and persons can be charged with animal cruelty.

  5. I'd guess the RSPCA would claim cruelty to animals

  6. actually there is a law against that, it is considered animal cruelty.the dog can suffocate or dehydrate in a hot car without any water or windows open..call you local aspca and tell them where the car is located so they can get that poor dog out of the car..

  7. Some people have abandoned their dogs in a car and the dog wound up overheating and dieing. The person was arrested for animal cruelty.

Keep an eye on him/her and if  the owner isn't back in 30 minutes or the dog starts to look distressed please call the ASPCA and they'll send someone out to help you.

Even on a day that isn't hot a car can heat up to over 100 F very quickly!

  8. Yes there is.  It is very dangerous and takes a short while for a dog to die in those conditions. If you did call the police or the RSPCA the owner of the car could be arrested, best keep an eye on dog and  tell owner off.  If dog is looking in  distressed though call the RSPCA right away.

  9. No law against it but you could be done for cruelty if any harm came to it

  10. Dont know Girl but there should be.All we can do is hope the owner comes back soon

  11. I THINK THERE IS BUT FOR AN AMOUNT OF TIME IF ITS HOT AND  BUT I THINK THEIR A LAW AGAINST IT IF THE RSPCA OR SOME WHERE LIKE THAT FOUND IT THEYED GET IT OUT AND CHARGE THE CAR OWNER I THINK

  12. Please be the mouth piece for this dog if it is still there & teach the owner a lesson.

That is animal cruelty so call the police.

Many dogs have died being left behind in cars.

  13. I believe that it is called Animal Abuse when you leave it in a car for too long, it's animal cruelty.. it's wrong, especially if it's hot outside..

So if you keep noticing the dog in there for long periods of time, then call animal control and they could be sent to jail depending on the dogs health.

    :) hope this helped.

  14. If I was you I would call the RSPCA now

  15. It really depends on the circumstances of the day.  Even though the outside are is not very warm, the inside of a closed up car (even with a window "cracked") can add another 20-40 degrees.  An hour is a very long time!

I would strongly suggest calling the police.  They will then have to make the determination.  Don't break the window yourself or you could become liable.  Unfortunately, dogs are not held to the same concern level as a child, even though they do hurt and suffer just as much!

  16. you can report it to the police or RSPCA dogs die in hot cars and leaving one in a locked car for over an hour with no open windows is a cruelty case, warm day or not dogs can still get hot in a car and need air

  17. yes many localities have laws aganst animal cruelty. I think its based on what happens to the animal rather then a part time limit. I doubt there is case unles the animal got ill or died but contavct local authorities anyway. Many shelters in us make u sign adoption conduct and they can take back animal if not cared for

  18. Try contacting your local RSPCA (their number will be in the telephone directory) they will be able to tell you.

  19. I would call the RSPCA.  I expect they would get someone there quicker that if you called the police.

  20. no their is no law thats prevents someone leaving there dog locked in a car but. i hope they come up with one so that dogs wont keep getting lost and abondand all the time and of course abuse

  21. I go to dog shows and leave my dogs in the van all day.

They are let out to relieve themselves every few hours or so.

They lie quietly with bowls of water in their cages and the back doors of the van fully open.

It is not safe to leave a dog in day light hours without windows open as the sun could come out at any time. The heat inside the car can reach dangerous levels in minutes.

If a dog is distressed that its owner has left it alone then it can pant so bad that the windows steam up. This is also a sign that it is getting hot inside the car.

I would keep your eye on it to make sure it's owner returns soon.

Try putting a note on the window saying '' this dog needs air'' leave windows open in future.

  22. I think theres one for leaving your dog in a car on a hot day!
