  1. I would suggest that the adult owner of the pool has the right to set a minimum age for swimming in their pool, alone or otherwise.

A general rule for all swimming (and other water sports) is 'never swim alone'.  With persons who are minors (under 18) it should be added that having a competent and preferably water-safety-trained adult is essential.

A significant factor in the majority of drownings of youngsters is the absence of adult supervision.  As an EMT I personally responded to several drownings of children in backyard pools and in spas/hot tubs and the one thing they all had in common was that no adult was present.

Age is not the only consideration.  Proper training in Water Safety, First Aid, and CPR should also be considered.  A 15-year old with the proper training beats a 35 year old with no training in my estimation.

  2. no there is no legal age but it is best to listen to what they say and obey their rules for the age that you can swim alone. its just for safety reasons.

  3. I don't know if there is a swimming age, but you should never swim alone, even as an adult it is dangerous.

  4. no theres no swimming age...you can swim regardless of your age ....parents just use that term swimming age...meaning you should be responsible enough to be left alone in the swimming pool and that you can handle your self well while in the pool

  5. Depends on where you are. It's sounds kind-of like a "People with pools should be held responsible for accidents in their pool" law.

  6. No

  7. Most pools say you have to be over 14 to swim without adult supervision. If your under 14 and over 8 they make your parent sign a waver but under that you can't be by yourself.

  8. I don't think we can answer this question. It would be very specific to where you live. I suggest calling the local authorities: town or city hall, local police, local fire department.

Good luck, and please do NOT swim alone.
