  1. Edit:  Actually, I was wrong.  I did a little research, and you should probably never do that again.

And maybe even get checked out this time around.

  2. Since the IU for each calcium tablet is unknown. A conclusion for any overdose can not be drawn just based on the number of calcium tablets eaten. However, The information needed for an " Adequate Intake " (AI) of Calcium is as following:

    -- Infants  0-6 months =   210 mg/day

    -- Infants  7-12 months =   270 mg/day

    -- Children  1-3 years =   500 mg/day

    -- Children  4-8 years =    800 mg/day

    -- Children  9-13 years =   1,300 mg/day

    -- Adolescents  14-18 years =  1,300 mg/day

    -- Adults  19-50 years =   1,000 mg/day

    -- Adults  51 years and older =   1,200  mg/day

    -- Pregnancy  18 years and younger =   1300 mg/day

    -- Breast-feeding  18 years and younger =   1,300  mg/day

Be careful when it comes to overdosing on calcium tablets because it carries the risk of getting " Hypercalcaemia ".  Should You notice any of the following symptoms, contact your family physician :

    - Fatigue

    - Depression

    - Confusion

    - Anorexia

    - Nausea

    - Vomiting

    - Constipation

    - Pancreatitis or increased urination

  3. I don't think there is a lethal dose of calcium, unless you get hit on the head by a piece of limestone.

Taking too much too often might lead to kidney stones, so don't.

    Edit:

I also did a little research. You will be fine. A one-off dose is not going to hurt you.

From a safety data sheet for calcium citrate, the pure ingredient of many calcium supplements:

"Extremely large oral dosages may produce gastrointestinal disturbances". So it's about as dangerous as beans.

6 or 7 tablets is not an extremely large dose.

Drink plenty of liquid and don't do it again.

  4. The tolerable upper limit for calcium is 2500 mg per day.  There is no reason to be taking that much calcium.  Excess calcium in the diet can lead to such things as elevated blood calcium levels, soft tissue calification, kidney stones, and can affect muscle contractions, including the heart.

If a calcium supplement is needed, I suggest to my clients to take a liquid calcium citrate with magnesium and vitamin D (half a dose in the morning, and the other half in the evening), and eliminate excess phosphorus and excess protein from their diet.

  5. it can lead to it, i just took a personal fitness class and found out that your body usually will p**p out calcium if you take too much, but sometimes it cant p**p out all of it, so it goes to your kidneys and can lead to damage there which CAN lead to death.

but i highly doubt you can die fromt he calcium itself, although you shouldnt take more than a tablet a day, so call poison control just incase because really, no one on here can give you a definite answer

    please answer mine?

  6. Like you already know , excess in everything is never good for you. But anyway, your body will automatically reject the extra calcium through your urine. It will only store the amount it needs..

If u r feeling suicidal, then its not really the best technique :p

    Cheers,

    Sebastian

  7. The amount of calcium tablets that should be taken by an adult shouldn't exceed two a day.

  8. 6-7 is okay. Antiacids are calcium tablets. They usually say no more than 7 per day. There is no "lethal dose" for calcium. You may get a stomache ache, but you won't die since calcium is water soluble and non-toxic.
