Excluding the restrictor plate tracks. I know horsepower is limited by the restrictor plates. I'm referreing to none plate races.

  1. They do have limitations but it varies from year to year all 4 makes are generally within 4 to 10 hp of each other.  According to the Lead engine builder at Gibbs they are pushing out about the same as they were with chevy so the hp  has nothing to do with why Bush is running as good as he is I feel that he simply is trying to prove to everyone that HMS should have kept him.  Even though I am not a fan of his, I am a Jr fan but a rational one, I can admit that the boy has as much talent as I have seen in a good long while.

  2. 1 million horses

  3. No. As long as it's within the rules, the sky is the limit. That's why some programs are notoriously stronger than others.

  4. yes 850 hp in sprint cup

    nationwide restricted carbs

  5. actually horsepower isn't limited by restrictor plates. Restrictor plates only restrict air flow to the engine. You can modify the bottom end to have way more horsepower in a restrictor plate race. Restrictor plates only affect the induction system. There can actually be an advantage to building an engine specifically for restrictor plate races, that can technically elude the application of restricting an engines air/fuel consumption. You can build an engine with a lot more power than your competitors, but if you don't build it in theoretical sequence, the engine will "fail". But even within the specifications set by NASCAR you can only get so much power out of 358 cubic inches. The technicians have to be more innovative to make more power, and making it to the end of the race. Nothing shows this idea better than drag racing. Of course a drag racing engine only has to operate less than 15 seconds. Each and every engine, chassis, and suspension has to be built for it's application. "Performance is based on design"

  6. 1000 Bugatti Veyron...

  7. as far as i know, nope - no limit.  and yes, that does give toyota the edge right now, but it gave hms/chevy the edge recently, and roush/ford before that...  one manufacturer or team figures something out first, then the rest play catchup, and usually do.
