Question:

Is there a link for a mom who wants to keep her baby, but doesn't have any support?

I know I've seen it somewhere, but I can't find it. I know of someone who is going through a tough time and wants to keep her baby, but hasn't any support. She doesn't want to give her baby up for adoption. Is there a place she can go that isn't in any way, shape, or form related to an adoption agency? A place that will help her get on her feet and help her out?

Thanks for your time.

  1. Here are links through the Federal gov't with links to state agencies.

US gov't food and nutrition assistance:

    http://www.fns.usda.gov/fns/default.htm

    US HUD - housing assistance:

    http://www.hud.gov/renting/index.cfm

State listings of temporary assistance offices:

I know that gov't insurance is also available both before and after  birth.

All of the other links that I have, have already been mentioned by other posters here.

Email me if you'd like me to help look up any other possibilities within the state that this young woman lives.

  2. Hiya red&sassy,

Thanks for much for helping her out - I think scared & stressed mums-to-be need all the help in the world - not more pressure from those that just want her baby.

Some links I would pass on -

(press on the link on the left - to - 'Pregnant & Need Help')

I hope this is a good start.

Hopefully others will chime in with more links soon.

    Good luck!

  4. i really don't know of many. I have two girls and alot of cute clothing that they've outgrown, I have a bassinette used only twice ( we decided to co-sleep instead and still do) that I could gladly donate. I also know how to sew cloth diapers if she's interested in diapering with cloth to keep the costs down.

Can you give me a state and i'll see what I can find.

I'm not religious really but I've found that those elderly church groups really like to knit things for babies who need them. :)

  5. Okay, this is the page on Origins that has links for help:

    http://origins-usa.org/Default.aspx?page...

    http://www.antiadoption.org/

E-mail me for a phone number & e-mail address for Joe Soll, an adoptee & therapist who believe in family preservation.

  6. Yes there is- call 1-800- CARENET- and they can hook her up to a pregnancy help center- which will help her with whatever she needs. They can help her with housing, medical insurance, referrals for docs- and maternity clothes and baby things.

  7. Birthright

Its a worldwide crisis pregnancy center

they will offer her a doctor, maternity clothes, baby clothes & furniture.. everything she need to make keeping this baby a reality.

It is NOT an adoption agency.

Should she choose adoption it will act as a referal to an adoption agency but in NO way help facilitate an adoption.

***ETA, I didn't find birthright to push adoption at all. Yes, I've used their services in the past. I found them to be great towards listening to what a mother wants. They are listed as an "abortion alternative" so yes when it comes to abortions they just don't speak of them.

  8. Depends on what state she lives in.  Many states offer welfare.  The state will help her get an apartment  for really cheap. Like $100 a month, and they will give her a few hundred dollars each month for bills, and they will also give her food stamps to help out with food for her and the child.

Go to the state website and check out the different options.

  9. There are millions of them all over the world.

If you contact a Planned Parenthood (or other clinic) they should have the names/numbers of these places on hand and at least start you off in the right direction.

    www.plannedparenthood.org

  10. she can also go to plannedparenthood.org. they offer tons of referrals for young women facing an unintended pregnancy, but do not wish to terminate nor place for adoption.

also, i have to respectfully disagree that birthright is a valid option.  they tend to be extremely anti-choice, tend to get into a ton of "shaming" and really push adoption...

  11. Go to Tender Care Pregnacy

  12. www.keepyourbaby.com

    www.motherhelpinfo/keepingyourchild.ht...

Those are a couple I found by just googling.

I am sure there are plenty of local resources.

Her local social services for medical and financial aid.

I don't know about this first hand, but a friend went to Catholic Charities and got clothing and furniture for his daughters when their mother abandoned them on his doorstep.

    Hope this helps.
