I am trying to create an outline for my first year law school classes (Contracts, Torts & Criminal Law) and i was wondering if there are any websites or books i can purchase that have all the laws/rules written out.

So then i can add them my outline with my hypos and cases...

Example: "Battery occurs when the defendant’s acts intentionally cause harmful or offensive contact with the victim’s person"

"Assault occurs when the defendant's acts intentionally cause the victim's reasonable apprehension of immediate harmful or offensive contact."

  1. google is your friend.

and have you tried, oh, say, the law school bookstore or library?

I don't forecast this law school thing going well for you if you haven't thought of all of this yourself.

  2. Wow Barry C is utterly worthless....dont you think people who respond for no reason just to get their points up are loser?

  3. You will not have time to read so many volumes.  You have to read 100-200 pages in each text book each night and be prepared to discuss, analyze, and grasp the concepts in class the next day.  You have to learn how to think quickly and draw conclusions.  You can't take several hours to read a bunch of rules you copied online before being able to formulate an answer.  You will quickly learn basic definitions (by the way, those are the common law definitions for battery and assault- each state has their own names and definitions) and just as quickly learn how to look up precisely what you need (such as the New Jersey statute for assault- where you find that New Jersey does not have battery).  I went to law school before google, and the volume of material back then was unmanageable.  You now have google online, at your fingertips, in addition to free legal websites that didn't exist years ago, plus you will probably have free Lexis and Westlaw.  If you can speak, think, and write the way you need to as an attorney, you will not need encyclopedias copied into your laptop to function.

  4. You can go to the library and check out this book.  I hope you ;figure out all these things before you finish law school, I sure wouldn't want you to defend me.
