Question:

Is there a live Goblin Shark in an aquarium anywhere in the world?

If so, then where? If not, then has there been any explanation to why they have died whenever they are moved to an aquarium? I attempted to do some research on it, however, all the news items I've seen do not explain the cause of death.

  1. Because Goblin Sharks live in such deep waters there bodies are specially adapted to live at such depth. Like many other deep sea creatures, I would think that they are unable to survive in shallow, less pressurised environments


  2. The only one that has ever been in an aquarium is in Japan but it died after it's arrival. Fisherman caught it in a net. I'm not sure why it died but it could have been because there is so little known on it's life. It is a deep sea shark and rarely seen alive. Usually only found dead. But since we know little about it we don't know what it exactly needs to survive. That's just a theory. Not a fact. And you can actually find video's of it on youtube.
