  1. The Notting Hill Carnival is held every year at the end of August on the Bank Holiday.

Notting Hill Carnival – Notting Hill London Carnival, Notting Hill ...It’s that time of year again – the Notting Hill Carnival is heading back to London for 2008 and it’s sure to be an even bigger bash than last year. ...

Here's a short sample from the 2007 Notting Hill Carnival Parade which is held on the Bank Holiday Monday - last Monday in August every year. . . .don't  miss it. . . .you'll only cry if you do.  It's not on TV so you gotta be there. . . .

  3. You are probably thinking of the Notting Hill Carnival, which takes place every year for three days over the August Bank Holiday, at the the end of the month. It is mainly situated around the Ladbroke Grove and Westbourne Park area.

    Its not Brasilian but Carribbean.

  5. I don't think it's Notting Hill you have in mind; surely it's Carneval del Pueblo? It's the largest Latin American event not just in London but in Europe; and it always features fabulous Brazilian music and dance.

I love this carnival! It's earlier in August -- the 3rd -- and tiny by comparison with Notting Hill (fewer than 200,000 visitors, though it grows every year.) It's celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, so expect even more fantastic music and dance than ever... just look at the programme http://www.carnavaldelpueblo.co.uk/progr...

Ah: you wanted to know where it happens... the big party's in Burgess Park, but the procession starts from Elephant and Castle and makes its way to the park through Wapping.

More stuff about the carnival's background here...

Hope you get here to enjoy it.

    =D

Love from a Londoner who'll be there too!
