Is there a certain common flower in Rome? It seems like an odd question but a friend of mine wants to know and I couldn't answer. Or are there certain kinds? IDK. anything helps. :]

  1. If you mean a really "common" flower, then there's nothing beats the Oleander (dogbane family), most of the Roman public parks and a lot of the avenues are full of them. Being multicoloured, hardy and evergreen they withstand the summer heat and winter cold (mild anyway).

Otherwise you've had a good tip from Conley:  Azaleas and Rhododendrons (same family) are just blooming.

  2. Right now, there's the azalea festival in Rome. It runs from March through May. There are displays of them on the Spanish Steps. There are rose gardens and other flowers at various times during the year, but noflower that I would  particularly associate with Rome other than the azaleas. Florence has the lily and there are masses of poppies (May) and sunflowers (june - August) in the countryside here.
