  1. There isn't much difference between guys and girls boards.  The make guys extra strong than girl boards though.  It doesnt really matter.  I have a burton board in guys and I love it.  I'd say but the guys boardif you really like.

    Good Luck and Have Fun!

  2. I think there is some difference with how much the board weighs.  Men boards could be a little heavier than women boards because there are guys that weigh more, so the board makers need to consider that. You might be able to find something though. Just make sure the board length is between your chin and your nose.

Burton isnt the only brand that makes women boards. Ride, Flow, K2 etc.. all make women boards too. maybe you can check those out too.

  3. Like some other brands, Burton's boards are women-specific, not just scaled-down versions of men's boards.

On average, they will be 20% lighter and 20% less stiff than a men's board of comparable length.  This is due to women on average being lighter than men of the same height.

Women's boards are also narrower, to better accomodate a female's smaller foot.  If you use a men's board, your feet may not reach the edge of the board, causing a decreased turning ability and overall control of the snowboard.

As well, female-specific boards have a different flex pattern than their male counterparts.  This recognizes the fact that women have a center of balance different than men.  Again, this will help with the control of the board.

If you have a large foot, or are heavier than "average", a men's board may not be a bad idea.

Also, you may want to check out their women's-specific bindings, last I checked the upper models had an inward cant specific to the female hip and calf alignment to make them more comfortable.  This may have trickled down to their entry-level models by now.

Good luck, female snowboarders are always hot =P

  4. Don't limit yourself to Burton, there are a lot of other great boards out there.

Womens boards are engineered a bit differently than mens boards.  They're narrower, lighter, have a slightly different flex pattern, and are softer.

When I was board shopping I looked around at guys boards to see if I could find one that was soft enough for me to ride and did find one but went with the Forum Star anyway.

The main thing that you would notice riding a guys board is that they're a bit more difficult to turn because of the added waist width and the stiffness.  The things like flex patterns would probably be so subtle you'd have to be a super advanced rider to notice.

It's not a HUGE difference but there is a difference.  If you're going to go shop for a guys board go to a board shop where the staff know their products and ride a lot so they can give you the best feedback possible.

    Good luck!
