Is there a major in college for the culinary arts?

I know normal culinary schools are 2 years, and that you gain an AA (or something close). I think....

But I'm going to attend a 4-year university, and I'm wondering if there's a major that has some equivalent to a culinary school.

And if there isn't, can anyone recommend a major which would help in a career in the culinary arts?

Thank you :]

  1. The best option would be to go to a culinary school. The Culinary Institute of America (or CIA) in upstate NY is a good one. But if you must go to a 4 yr university then major in Chemistry. Think about it, when you're doing labs, that process is remarkable similar to cooking with a recipe and such. And if you do that then, you also have a major that looks great on a resume if you choose not to be a cook. However, Chem is pretty hard. Good luck.
