Is there a market for tutoring homeschooled students online?

I wonder if there is a need for tutors for students that are homeschooled. If you were to get a tutor for your homeschooled child how much would you pay for something like that?

  1. There's not much of a market for that.  The parents *are* the "tutors" for the child.  The 1:1 attention is a common reason for parents to HS in the first place.

When parents aren't comfortable teaching a subject, they have their students take co-op classes, dual enroll at a community college, or take an online class.

To me, online tutoring would be a waste of resources.  If I needed a tutor for my child, I'd get one locally for face-to-face contact.

  2. Many parents from my homeschool support group are looking for someone to grade their children's writing assignments. Actual tutoring-no I don't think so. I think they would go with someone local rather than online.

    Best of Luck!

  3. I don't see the need for an online tutor.  Our books have written information that we read and understand.  If there is something that is not understood, we do research and read more about it.   Sometimes we listen to free online lectures about the subjects that are being studied.
