In my late teens I racked up 3 misdemeanors. One of them I violated 3 times. Will the Marines need to perform 3 waivers or six? Websites seem to indicate each violation is counted(?) Do they have leeway or is this requirement set in stone. Its also been two years will that improve my eligibility? I took the sample asvab and scored 85 will that help?

  1. When I left recruiting, that would count six misdemeanors...now they could be chart "b" or chart "c" which is an internal classification.  And believe it or not, depending on what they are, the military might look upon them as a felony for enlistment purposes.

The good news is that even though it is six charges...it is only ONE waiver...however, that will also depend on what the current regulations are for maximum waiverable offenses.  If my memory serves me correctly, when I left recruiting 2 yrs ago, six or more charges was no waiver authorized (minus parking tickets)

Let me ask you this....if you have already met with a recruiter and taken the EST, what was the result of that conversation?  They are your very best source of current information on the subject...what did your recruiter tell you?

  2. Talk to a recruiter as only he/she can really make the determination. It will be based on the types of misdemeanors and the violations.

  3. With a misdemeanor on your record you should be okay. Just ask your recruiter, he/she will know what to do. Just be as honest with them as you can, because any fraudulence on your enlistment contract is grounds for court martial/discharge.
