I've received 2 calls from a person who says he is from the dmv and wanted me to report to their office tomorrow.I said i'm at work and scheduled it on July 19th, 2008. Then he said "if you want we can come to your house" then even mention the street where I live. Is this call legitimate? I tried to call back his number but its a fax phone.

  1. Call phone operator give them the number they can verify if it is a business/institutuion. If they say its a private number this means somehting fishy goin on

  2. I certainly don't know of any DMV that would call a person and ask them to report to their office.  They normally send letters.  Don't give them any information and don't let them come to your house.  I absolutely don't know of any DMV that would make house calls.  This sounds extremely fishy.  Did they say what they wanted to talk to you about or give a reason why they wanted you to come in?  Don't call any number they might have given you.    Look up the DMV for your state in the phone book and give them a call.  Explain what happened and ask if it's valid.  I'd be very surprised if it was.  If you got the number the person called from on speed dial, check it out, but not by calling it unless you call from a public phone somewhere.  But remember you can spoof caller id numbers so that isn't an absolute.
