Yes, I am referring to cutting, but not just cutting. I mean like drugs and anything else that can hurt you physically and maybe mentally, but yet you're enjoying every minute of it. Is this a known medical condition and what are the signs of it? I need as many details as possible! Are there any behavioral effects? Please help me!

  1. It's a feature of several psychological disorders; most of which are treatable.

  2. I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'enjoying' hurting yourself

there are a few different mental illnesses that invole people hurting themselves, the most common of these being depression, but in most cases people hurt themselves to have a physical outlet for the intense mental pain they are feeling, in a way they are trying to show how they are feeling though their scars

people in these situations do not generally enjoy hurting themselves, they just see it as not having any other options

have a look at this site it has some information on self-harm and it may just be that you are suffering from a form of depression

  3. Yes, there is. I have had it for the past 16 years, and don't know of a specific term for it. I  used to cut myself, burn myself, drink myself almost to death, take every drug in excess, and put myself in abusive relationships and relish in how crappy it made me feel. It's a masochistic form of self-punishment, somewhat like the flagellants of religious madmen in centuries past, who lived only to suffer.

It's luckily very easy to treat as it most often occurs as a byline of any number of psychological disorders such as depression, psychosis, and usually anxiety or even post-traumatic stress.

You just get a kick off of making yourself feel bad. Whether it's physical or emotional, it's all the same.

Just be safe and get help before some irreparable damage is done.

  4. Dermatillomania is a compulsive skin picking disorder, it drives the picker to pick, scratch, cut, or otherwise damage the skin that can lead to terrible scarring, infections, disfiguration, and emotional impacts.  It not exactly enjoying hurting oneself, but is in many instances a form of stress relief due to the release of endorphines from the pain.

As for behavioral, it is normally a hidden thing, done in private or very subtly, so that a severe picker might not be noticed at all as having a problem.  Long sleeves, long pants, cover up make up, social avoidance, anxiety, and long lasting sores or scarring can signal it, but most pickers are very, very good at hiding what they are doing, even if they are in an active picking period.
