Is there a microsoft word program that recognises scientific words/symbols?

Its really annoying and time consuming when Word "corrects" scientific words and symbols that it doesnt recognise.... are there any newer versions or programs that wont do this?

You could use the equation editor built into Word.

Can't you just click 'add' to add them to the dictionary?  It won't do it again.

But yeah, it's annoying.  That's why (well, one of the many reasons) that professional scientists don't use Word to write their papers - they use LaTeX.

No.1 Yes! you can change or load an alternative character set which can be used by Word.

No.2 Yes! you can from the main menu, select the insert menu, from this menu see> symbol option> from here you are presented with the symbols available with the fonts you have.

No.3 You can select different fonts which also contain different symbols sets.

No.4 a quick web search using Yahoo or Google should find you free-ware MS word compatible scientific words/symbol sets that can be used by your program.

No.5 Also worth a search through Microsofts own website for similar.
