Is there a minidv converter to the pc?

i have caught footage with my camcorder but its kind of old and i cant find any wires that connect to the computer with it, so i thought there might be a minidv to pc converter around... thanks.

Ps: my camcorder is a Sony Handycam Video Hi8 CCD-TRV81 NTsc

  1. well I'm thinking you just have a regular analog type connection. but i think you can still pass your footage to your computer.



    you can give the .....Pinnacle - Video Transfer(link below).... a try to pass videos to your computer it should work.

    or you can buy a dvd recorder and record all your footage to a dvd and then export the dvd to your computer you might want to use Ulead® DVD MovieFactory(link below)  trial thats what i use to export dvd for editing and then you can use a media converter(link below) so u can be able to use it in movie maker or wherever you want...


  2. CCD-TRV81 is an analog hi-8 vcam. To capture/import analog video to a pc, the analog signal has to be converted first to digital.

It will probloly connect to a computer via Firewire (simular to USB) ask at your local computer store for a firewire cable, take in your PC and camra, just so they can comfirm that it is what you need and the type of firewire cable you need, you may also need a firewire card in your computer, total cost, around £20 i would have thought ($40 aprox)
