Have a look at your local 'landline' telephone providers website.

Over here you can make some free texts on BT, they may be the same.

I had a problem with paying extorsionate prices for texting when i was with my ex from Dublin. I was on 3, but they we're charging about 25p per text. So i transfered to o2 because they only charged aroung 14p per text.

o2 were definately the best deal around and it is definately worth looking into if you are sending quite a few. I managed to get my bills down from £100 a month to about £55.
