  7. Bukowski was clearly influenced by the Beats, and some have called his work something hyphenated -- post-Beat, neo-Beat, latter-day-Beat. . . .

    Some call him a "gutter poet."

    Some of his work relates to "confessional poetry," although he's rougher, more blue-collar, than some of the best-known confessional poets.
