Is there a name for cooked octopus?

just wondering cause a friend had it. what would you call it when ordering. (besides cooked octopus)

This is a very popular Italian dish.They called them polpo.they made them stewed,grilled and boiled.And also one of the famous dish with octopus is rissoto with octopus.In Japanese they called them tako.Calamare is a squid.Squid and Octopus are different to each other.

its calamari. i hate the ones with a bunch of legs, they kinda scare me. Calamari taste good with lime

Calamari is deep-fried squid. SQUID! A squid is very different than an octopus, don't confuse the two.

Yanagi Tako (Japanese)

Matako (Chinese)

Those are two options for cooked octopus. Again, I'd like to reiterate, Calamari is NOT OCTOPUS. It's SQUID.
