I know that question probably sound a bit weird. My friend who is not religious just found out she's pregnant and she wanted me to be the "god mother" type thing, but I am also not religious.

  1. I totally understand. You could just be considered Aunt (whatever our name is) or something like T-T (your name)

    Congrats!

  2. I know in the Catholic church if you are not Catholic you are considered a "Christian witness".  I think you should call your self whatever you guys want! :)  How about "Angel Mommy" cause you'll always watch over him/her.  Just make something up if you're not comfortable with the religious aspect of it.  Good luck :)

  3. Godparents are adults who sponsor a child at the time of his/her baptism. They take on the responsibility of helping the child’s parents raise him/her in the Orthodox Faith

if she isn't religious and the baby isn't being baptized, there would be no purpose to being a god parent or "godparent like" friend of the family

maybe I didn't understand your question, what exactly did your friend have in mind for naming you "godparent"

  4. you would the legal guardian if something happened to her
