Is there a natural way to balance your hormones?

I have too much estrogen or too much progesterone - noone knows, but I have uterine fibroids that are caused by disbalance of those two. Is there any natural way to reduce/balance those two? I'll consider stuff like fasting, exercising, dieting, herbs, acupuncture even tho fasting is considered unsafe by some.

  1. if you suffer from any type of menstrual discomfort or pre-menopause or post then are many types of natural cures.  there is a wonderful book called "prescription to nutritional healing" & prescription to herbal healing" which are both at my reach at all times.  i have made it my mission not to have female problems plague me & the main source of excellant advise are found in the pages of those books...

  2. Here's how you tell which hormone you have too much of. Ideally your period should be two weeks controlled by estrogen, and then two weeks controlled by progesterone. Buy ovulation detectors. Ovulation is the middle point of your cycle. Time your cycle and see which is longer. Day one is the first day of your period. It's most likely estrogen, if it is then you need to stay away from all milk, dairy, and birds unless it is organic. The hormones they give them are pumped full of estrogen. You need to stay away. Oil of evening primrose taken in the evening does wonders for balancing female hormones. Wild yam cream will help too, but wild yam is a natural progesterone so if you have a excess of progesterone that will not be helpful. Dong qui is a natural estrogen so it might help if you have too much progesterone. Vitex, aka chaste tree berries also helped me a lot. I hope that helps. Good luck!

  3. DIM or Di-Indole-Methane, 100mg to 400mg per day.

    This will balance oestrogen levels.

To be honest, l'm not sure about balancing progesterone, hopefully someone here will be able to make a suitable suggestion. Although a herb called Black Cohosh helps with female hormones, not sure if it specifically targets progesterone.

    Hope this helps.

EDIT: From a google search Black Cohosh does help with progesterone

'The estrogenic action of the black cohosh is confirmed and well established, in addition, the herb is believed to aid in reducing the levels of the pituitary luteinizing hormone within the body of the patient. This action is believed to lead to a decrease in the production of progesterone in the ovaries of women.'

  6. I'm reading a book called Asana, Pranayama, Bandas, Mudras by Swami Satyananda Saraswati. He states that regular practice of yoga has a balancing effect on all the body's systems, including hormonal production. I tend to agree with this. I've worked through various health issues with yoga practice over the last 5 years. One of the things I remember from class is when we do chin lock, the teacher reminds us that this massages our thyroid glands so they will perform properly. I'm aware of poses, breathing techniques and locks that also stimulate the pineal gland, and pancreas, so I'm sure that yoga must balance the gonads as well. If you want to pursue this path, talk to a well-reputed teacher to find out if he or she is knowledgeable enough of human anatomy to guide you in your hormonal work.
