  1. Define natural?

    The answers about exercise, "self delusion" (pretend you're happy and you'll become happier) and so on are correct.

    But I'd also offer the idea that many illegal drugs are perfectly natural, and help a great deal also.  (note: there's a BIG difference between "illegal" and "bad" - some drugs are "bad", others aren't, but they're still illegal).

Hey!!  There are ways that help improve your mood but as far as i know you can't create more serotonin as its a type of neurotransmitter.  The best way to naturally boost your mood is by spending some time in the sun and doing some exercise.  The combination of a good dose (but don't over do it obviously, you don't want to get burnt) and exercise stimulates the area of your brain that releases endorphins.  These provide you with a 'feeling good' emotion, and you don't need to do rigourous exercise in order to get it.

    Of course if you are feeling down, then it is also very beneficial to do these sorts of things with a friend or family, just so you have some company and don't feel alone.  But you have to be careful because for some people, this method alone doesn't always provide them with the desired response.  Some people do require to be on medication while also doing these things.  It really depends on the person and what works for them.  Hope this helps.  Good luck!!

    And Tryptophan an Amino Acid that raises

    serotonin levels in the brain........

    +Direct Sunlight + Exercise as some have already mentioned....

    Sleeping pills lower Serotonin levels so do avoid them if possible...
