  1. no there is no need for any international organization, like UNO, NAFTA, UN, etc....all are a waste of government money and time.....

  2. Yes, there is a need. Why else would the world be using them if there wasn't a need or at the least a desire to use these organizations? These organizations are the ONLY way that many smaller and less economically-stable nations can actually talk to the larger nations of the world. No large nations will seriously take time out of their day to talk to the poorest nation of the world, Ghana, but in the UN everyone HAS to listen to the speaker, or at least give them the respect and not talk while they are talking.

In other words, yes they are needed so that everyone has an equal footing. And as someone else pointed out these organizations also provide for a neutral organization to facilitate peace talks and a neutral place for those talks to occur. Organizations such as the European Union and the African Union have also helped to create more unity amongst the people on their respective continents, and the European Union's use of the Euro has helped stabilize many economies in Europe and therefore also stablized nations.

  3. Most of them serve some purpose if only as a neutral site for diplomats to meet and talk.  There are obviously limits on the ability of international organizations to resolve anything given the divergent interests of nations.  However, the World Bank and the IMF have accomplished some good as has the UN.  If you have any doubts about whether the UN can serve an important role, ask the people of Namibia and East Timor.

  4. Proper abbreviation is the UN not UNO

  5. Is there a need for yahoo answers?  Does it make a meaningful difference in people's lives, or change opinions?

Not usually - but its fun and educational.

  6. Global problems require global solutions. While international organizations frequently seem inefficient and hopelessly quagmired, they are vital to global stability.

Example: remember the hole in the ozone? That was caused by emissions of CFC's into the atmosphere. An international treaty called the Montreal Protocol effectively ended CFC output and the ozone layer is returning to normal. If ONLY the US had banned CFC's, we'd still have the same problem.

The world is increasingly interconnected, and we have to work together to solve problems. The fact that international organizations are bad at solving problems now is a reason to make them stronger, not make them disappear.

  7. NO!
