Is there a need to check on daily ph or specific maintainence with an in ground pool?

Is it safe enough that chlorine is added to a inground pool every two weeks without further check of its water safety? Should one be checking PH on a daily basis or anything else aside from bottom filter system and top skimming?

clorine and ph need to be checked regularly during the hot summer months weekly for sure during summer as pool can turn green over night i have seen this happen a lot filter needs to be monitered closely pressure gets to high pool will not work right eleven years experince

you should check with the national swimming pool assocition or local guide lines for this.. chlorine is good and best way to fix ph or toxic water is to dump it and add more

you need to check your pool levels every week. chlorine,ph,and alkalinity. if the chlorine levels are to low you will develop algae. maintain anywhere from 3-7 on chlorine 7-8 on ph and 80-120 on alkalinity. also make sure to backwash system at least once a month. to bring alkalinity down add muratic acid. this will also bring ph levels down. to bring ph and alkalinity levels up just add water.

You would want to maintain a ph level between 7.2 - 7.8 depending on the size of your pool. Low ph makes the water acidic which is painful to the eyes and can corrode metal parts. Your chlorine dissipates much quicker also. Test at least once a week or more if your pool is heavily used or after a heavy rain which can lower your ph. Add baking soda to raise your level. Don't buy ph up in your pool store which will cost 3-4 times more than a big box of baking soda at your local wally world. To lower your ph level- add dichlor, trichlor chlorine or simply adding more water will help. I use a floating chlorine tablet dispenser and 3" tabs that you can buy by the buckets which for me is the easiest way of maintaining a good chlorine level in the water. Good luck and happy swimming!
