Yeah, complain that it's so bad that you won't pay for it. Make a scene and start yelling at the waiter. They'll just want to get you out of there, so I'm sure they'll let the bill slide.

However, if accompanied by a date, maybe not the best idea.

Pull out a hair, or insect on the plate... play up the grossed out factor. It works, you will just pay for your drinks.

If there is something wrong with the food or a portion of the meal, you should call it to the attention of the waiter/ess immediately so they can take care of the problem. You will often have that portion , say a desert, or a drink, removed from the bill. But that can often be taken out of the waiter/ess's pocket too. Some restaurants and bars essentially "sell" the meal or drinks to the wait person and if you stiff the waiter/ess it comes out of his or her pocket.

This is such a sad question! I have been a server for three years now working my way through college and I hate when people try to get out of paying for their food and then on top of that do not leave a tip....so I had to deal with them and only made $2.13 an hour for dealing with the whole ordeal...

Please don't  do this just stay at home!!!!
