I'm getting phone calls from solicitors and I don't want to have to pay a service to block them ... I know how to block my number from showing up on someone elses phone when I call, is there something similar I can use to block someone from calling me?

  1. You can buy a 'Call Manager' from Privacycorps.com, and block any numbers you want. Not that hard to learn. You must have Caller ID to use it. If you get Caller ID, you will also have ACR, (Anonymous Call Rejection') Verizon does, and it will not allow anyone to call you without a number displayed.  *77 to turn it on, *87 to turn it off. Anonymous callers will be rejected. For info on the Call Manager:  http://www.privacycorps.com

  2. Try *60, its for selective call rejection. Its included with some phone services, others its not. If you dont have this, you will have to pay a minut fee for it.

  3. either tell them you no longer wish to have calls from them, sign up to the telephone preference scheme (does take up to 28 days to be fully effective), or bt do a choose to refuse service which can be trialled for a month before it becomes payable, but you can cancel so it finishes after the free month.
