Is there a particular course or a study for a person to become a masseuse?

well i was thinking of becoming a masseuse for a part time Job do i have to go through any prof training or something

  1. It varies by state, but usually you have to attend massage school for a total of about 600-2000 hours (again, varies by state).  At the minimum, it full time for about six months.  There are a lot of clinical hours (where you give massages during your training period), plus academic courses and training in ethics and law (relevant to the industry), hygiene and other issues.  After your coursework, you then have to pass a written and clinical test before you can become licensed.  


  2. I know that in Maryland you have to complete a 2 year course and get a degree, THEN after that you'll have to pass certain tests given by the Board of Chiropractors called the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCETMB).

    After you're certified, you have to renew your certification every few years depending on what state you're in. For us, we have to take continuing education courses every 2 years to make sure we're up to speed on the latest techniques and modalities in our profession.
