  1. there are severals, and it would be better if you buy the case and build the pc yourself. but you can always buy the complete package.

  2. Yes, there are several that are designed to fit into an equipment rack or an entertainment center. The least expensive would be an HP 558 or 565, but they are out of date now and getting harder to find. The 565 will upgrade to Vista Media Center and has HDMI output.

There are Media Center PCs by S3, Niveus, Vitabox and Alienware but be prepared to spend some cash for any of them. I've not tried an Alienware but the other three companies make machines that perform very well.

Sony has a new machine that is round and about as tall as an older VCR. I've not tried this one either, but its truly a work of art compared to the square boxes we are used to.

Did you know that you can get a card from your cable company that will slide into some PCs and allow you to watch and record HDCable, including premiums like HBO, right on your computer? My cable co. charges $1.75 per month instead of the $12.99 they want for a Cable DVR. All of these brands have this available, but you are restricted from building your own PC if you want this feature.
