My teeth are yellow. And I want them to be white. I also want to use something that works. Not something I have to use ever few months or anything. Just something I use once. I've tried whitening toothpaste and mouthwash, but It just doesn't seem to do the trick. HELP!

  1. Nothing is permanent. I agree to this sentence.

  2. You could get ... veneirs? Unfortunately, there's nothing that will be permanent. Especially if you drink coffee/wine or consume highly pigmented foods or drinks that will stain your teeth. But you probably know that.

I find hydrogen peroxide works really good at keeping your teeth white. Just as a tip, wipe your teeth off and put some on them. It also keeps your breath fresh & is VERY cheap compared to zoom bleaching and white strips. Goodluck!

  3. Lumineers are the only permanent solution.  I have them and love them!  They took impressions, sent them off, I came back and had them cemented on.  No drilling, no pain.  Just expensive.

Next is Ultradent Tres White trays.  You can buy a ten pack and use them for ten consecutive days.  They seem to work well.

Start rinsing with hydrogen peroxide a couple of times a day.  It's safe and effective over a period of time and will maintain.  Another inexpensive way that I've heard patients comment on is Listerine Whitening.  Seems to be effective without causing too much sensitivity.  Rinse with water after coffee, juice, soda, wine, etc.

  4. nothing is permanent u will have to maintain whitening your teeth with whatever product method surgery you use

  5. Yep, definitely not going to be able to whiten your natural teeth permanently.  The only way is to go with veneers which are really expensive but they will look really good and should last really long!

I was going to get veneers because I was sick of whitening all the time but now I use something called Celebrity Smile which you can get online at http://mycelebsmile.com/y/ -- it works really well and I haven't had to shell out for veneers yet to keep my teeth looking white!

  6. Like they said, the only real long term solution is to do veneers on basically all of your teeth.  These are normally done in porcelain, and are facings that are cemented over the fronts of your teeth.  These can be done on the front teeth, but in the back teeth you would need crowns because veneers don't hold up in back (due to chewing forces).

The porcelain can be made pretty much as white as you want, and doesn't change color over time.

The drawback is it is going to cost in the neighborhood if $1000 per tooth, so if you have 28 or however many teeth, you can do the math.

Pretty much any type of whitening system you use will eventually fade over time and will need some touch up from time to time, but that is really not that big of a deal.  If you have bleach trays made, you can normally just sleep in them and take them out in the morning.  Do that a few nights and you should be back to being white!
