Is there a place/bar in Houston for adult professionals?

I am getting a divorce, and I just want to meet new people but the everywhere I go the crow seem so young for my age.

I just turned 40 *gasp* and a lot of my friends (late 30s, early 40s) go to Muldoons Patio.  It is just off of Westheimer on Augusta...next to Beck's Prime.

I have also met nice people at the Kelvin Arms in Rice Village...the trick to meeting people your age in the Village is to go there on a week night.  Weekends tend to get kind of young.

Another strategy is to go to places a bit more sophisticated...like wine bars rather than pubs.  There are quite a few..each with its own approach.  As far as friendly is concerned though, you might try the Corkscrew on Washington.

I understand about the age thing. I would try restaurants and upscale hotels rather than typical bars etc.

The Alden Hotel on Prarie downtown has a really cool lounge and their restaurant 17 is one of the best in Houston.



Americas on Post Oak near the Galleria has a bar downstairs that attracts older proffesionals

The Black Swan at the Omni on Woodway is nice it has a nice mix of younger and older people.

Hotel Zaza on Main is one of the hotspots, the crowd is def.  older.

I have never been to uptown sushi in Uptown Park, but it might be worth a shot.

The idea about wine bars sounds good. Cova on Kirby might be a place to hang out too.  

Disovery Green (http://www.discoverygreen.com/en/cms/?27... has some new restaurants that should be upscale.  

The nearby Hilton Americas Hotel is another nice place to hang out, and it has a hip bar.

Best of luck to you. A piece of unsolicited advice: go to have fun and check out some of the cooler places in town, if you meet someone along to way great. Either way its a positive to go out an explore.
