Planning my honeymoon for December 08, and would love to go to an island in the Caribbean. But I'm afraid we'll get bored of just sitting on the beach. Are there any places there that have other non-beach related activities?

  1. My favorite place in all the Caribbean is St John USVI. It is 2/3rds park land which means you don't have many mega resorts lining the beaches. This is an island to be explored, relax and enjoy. It does have 39 pristine beaches, many hiking trails, great shopping, fun bars and lovely island type restaurants. You are also very close to the British Virgin Islands.

You can take a boat excursion over to BVI or around St John.

You fly into St Thomas and ferry over to St John. No airport on St John. Some people split their time between St Thomas and St John or they visit St Thomas for a day. St Thomas is a more active island compared to St John.

Newlyweds have chosen St John to get married on and then honeymoon. It's a magically place that draws you back year after year.

Check it out, good luck and congrats

  2. OMG Puerto Rico is the best place for adventure & beach. This is why the PR tourism's slogan is "Explore Beyond the Shore" & it used to be "Visit the Continent of Puerto Rico" There is so much to do here, it just depends on what you like.

San Juan is the big city & the main tourist area. Its a very historical city & there are alot of historic sights to see like El Morro, a 6 story war fort that was built over 500 years ago. There are old cathedrals & gov't houses. The homes are colorful & built with old spanish colonial architecture & there are cobblestone streets with lots of restaraunts & boutiques. Its very pretty. There is also everything modern that you could want. There is really great nightlife like clubs, bars & casinos & it's pretty safe compared to some other islands. Isla Verde is a nice beach in San Juan, something like Miami beach with hotels & resorts & golden sand. There are taxis & buses all around San Juan too. Now you can stay in San Juan or outside of San Juan. Because there are alot of nice place outside the city too, like Fajardo, Vieques & Culebra, Ponce, Rincon, Dorado & more..  You can stay at these other places or you can rent a car & travel the whole isalnd, its only 100 miles long.

There is a Rain Forest on the east coast in Rio Grande called El Yunque. Its a mountain you can drive right up & then hike the trails & swim in the waterfalls. There are nice beaches nearby too like Luqillo & Seven Seas. Also This is right near Fajardo. Fajardo has great boating & fishing & snorkeling, scuba diving & water sports. You can catch a ferry from here to the small Islands of Vieques & Culebra which have almost secluded white sand beaches, very beautiful. In Fajardo & in Vieques there is also a bioluminescent bay where the water glows in the dark. You take a kayak at night, its amazing! In the north, there is Arecibo Telescope, the biggest radio telescope in the world. & Camuy Caves, a huge beautiful underground cave system. On the west coast surfing is great. Rincon is known for surfing & beautiful sunsets, even whale watching in the winter. In the South Ponce is like a small European town with museums & nice architecture. There is also Guanica dry forest here.  If you like the quiet mountians go to Utuao in the central area. Driving PR is beautiful in itself. The food is delicious & the people are friendly. You can horseback ride on beaches & do watersports & all kinds of nature trips. Have fun!!
