  1. go to edmunds.com or consumerreports.com

    Good luck!

  2. Try Vehix.com   They say they do all of this and more.  I've never visited the site because I haven't been car shopping recently.

  3. I would avoid Consumer Reports since they have never employed actual mechanics or "gear heads" to test their cars. They've relied strictly on their group of researchers who are not well versed in the automotive field. They use mathmatic methods, not true road testing methods, to come to their conclusions. However, they have just recently hired on a real "gear head" to supervise their car testing so hopefully in a few months, they may finally have relevant information.

But the best source for getting accurate car ratings has always been JDPower.com. You can find out anything you desire, such as intitial quality, reliability after three years, recalls and common dealer complaints.

Edmunds.com is a great source for finding out the true cost of ownership for a certain model. And for finding out ALL incentives currently available on every new model.

Decide on three or four different vehicles that interest you. Then go to both websites for the info you're looking for.

  4. Looking too closely for complaints isn't the best strategy since it's time consuming, you should try to narrow it down first. Nissan makes at least 10 different models of cars right now and most automakers have around the same number so you can end up searching 200 cars for what not to buy and be no closer than if you just generalize based on what the manufacturer. After all, most manufacturers use the a lot of the same parts for different cars.

  5. Consumers Report

  6. Yes.  Google up the NHTSA website and also just google up the model car you are looking at and add on "complaints" along with it.
