I have a bunch of brand new clothes and some in good condition that don't fit and/or i dont want them anymore. I was going to give them to goodwill but these shirts are pretty expensive so is there a place that would pay me for donating clothes (like a dollar a shirt) or should i just donate them without getting money..im talking brand new like 30$ and up a shirt...or is there no such place

  1. Check out your local consignment stores.  They will buy your clothes if they are in good condition and are in season.  They especially like buying high end designer clothes or very trendy or vintage type garments.

  2. You should try to find a consignment shop in your area. you take in your clothes and you get a percentage of what they sell if for. Of course they won't sell for original price but you'll earn a few bucks.

  3. You can try selling them on e-bay.

  4. I would agree with the first two answers as to what you should do with your clothes. Any of the agencies that people donate items to don't always follow with the same ideas of what you want done with those items. I have seen it take place where people working at these agencies take first pick of what is being donated. Stories- for a number of months I would always see this young man get on the train with different items, some new, others old, the thought of where he might work. The hospital that I worked at was going to get rid of alot of kitchen items that were no longer going to be used, so a friend suggest to call Goodwill and ask them if they wanted the items. The young man that I saw a number of times getting on the train was part of the group to pick up the donated items at the hospital. I have a hard time with the idea that people donate items to help low income families, yet the people working at these different agencies see fit to take first chance of what they want and then the prices for the donated items are selling beyond what should be fair market value for the low income people to be able to buy those items.

When my mother passed a few years ago, my brother and I wanted to find a few families that could use items that we wanted to give them, not one agency would give us names or were willing to find those families for us, they wanted to sell the items. This wasn't junk that had no value, it could have been a benefit to some people. We had no place to store the items so had to give in to their ways of selling what we ended up donating to them.
