  1. Your local American Red Cross and your local hospital can do that. Unfortunately blood can't be kept in storage for long if you don't use it within 30 days of your surgery date. Blood stored properly can last up to 90 days but no longer than that.

  2. We do it all the time.  It's called autologous donation.  If it isn't given to you, it's discarded, not used for other people.

As mentioned above, banked blood only lasts for 90 days, so you can't store it indefinitely.

  3. Only if you don't mind other people using it when you don't need it. I suppose if you can store it properly you could try getting a friend to take some off of you (any good needle will do), then just freeze it, research what kinds of temperatures for storage purposes. Its possible.

  4. Yes. Blood banks, especially those based in hospitals/surgical centers, often do this. There's a limit, though, because the shelf-life of blood has a pretty quick "expiration date."
