I'm a 14 year old [male] teen, and I just recently weighed myself. I'm 5'9 or so, and weigh 125 lbs. So, naturally, that's real skinny, so shouldn't I be more focused on GAINING weight instead?

  1. If you want to gain weight, there are diets for that. You don't need to worry about losing weight, but you do want to be healthy. You can be skinny with type two diabetes and sky-high cholesterol. You also might not have problems for years, but if you get used to an unhealthy diet it will be harder to change to a healthy one when you're 50 and at risk for all types of diseases due to a bad diet. Good habits are best to start young. So, the point of a good diet is not always about losing weight. I'm thin and young but I still want to eat right because that will make me healthier, and it also gives you more energy and makes you feel better.

If you're trying to gain weight, you should not do so by eating unhealthy foods. You should do so by eating 500 more calories a day than you are currently eating, eating lots of lean proteins (tofu, fish, chicken, vegetables), and exercising to gain muscle.

  2. No one should diet. You should eat healthy and exercise regularly (lift weights and do cardio workouts) and your body should find its natural healthy weight.

  3. Yes you want to gain weight healthy brother. Eat 4-7 meals a day healthy ones and very small meals... Work your butt off in the gym.
