Is there a point to buy a car if there is no need for it?

in new york for example no need for car because u have subway.... but i wanna be cool and blast music drive around?

The only point that I can think of is if you finance one you can help your credit score as long as you make your payments. Other than that, buying a car and not needing one doesn't make sense.

Just rent one for  a weekend and get it out of your system. If you live in NYC there really is no need.

but with gas prices so high, now is the wrong time.  Get a shinny new gold watch and show that off instead.
